It’s Cartoon Day!

Apparently all of the networks decided that a lot of kids would be sitting around today and tonight itching for something to watch, which is really the only explanation for these four–yes, four–cartoons to be premiering today (technically, three are premiering and the fourth is a special hour-long episode).

Check ’em out:

Transformers Prime (The Hub, 4-5 pm EST)

As a rule, I hate CG animation on television. It looks worse than it does in feature films (which is pretty bad, in my opinion). But, this is Transformers and Beast Wars/Machines were both pretty cool, so what the hell.

G.I. Joe Renegades (The Hub, 5-6 pm EST)

This looks like a weird combination of G.I. Joe and The A-Team, with several well-known Joes (and Tunnel Rat) being forced to go underground in their fight against COBRA Industries. This show already gets points for including Scarlett.

Young Justice (Cartoon Network, 7-8 pm EST)

I saw some footage from Young Justice at New York Comic Con and it was SO GOOD.

Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes “Gamma World” (Disney XD, 8:30-9:30 pm EST)

I love this show. And, this two-parter (airing back-to-back) has Jeffrey Combs as The Leader.

*Transformers Prime appears to be a 5-part mini-series, while G.I. Joe Renegades will have a 26-episode season. Young Justice is a special one-hour preview episode, with the series premiering sometime in January. It looks like Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes will finish up its first season on December 5 with “Masters of Evil.”
