So Say They All

Here’s the cast of BSG reading the “Top Ten Reasons to Watch the New Season of Battlestar Galactica” on Late Show with David Letterman:

As much as I love Dave, these lists can be pretty hit-or-miss, especially when they involve “stunt readers”…but I did get a chuckle out of numbers 6, 5, 4, and 3 (ahh…Starbuck).

  1. I hadn’t realized BSG had an exit strategy;> Seriously, I didn’t know they were only making 4 seasons. I’ve often wondered why TV shows didn’t have an end goal. Hopefully, this helps the quality stay high and gives resolution to all us viewers.

  2. I don’t think they planned to stop at 4, they were “told” to stop at 4. But, knowing that they’re making their final season probably gave the writers enough time to wrap everything up nicely.

If you want to see what a show looks like when it’s planned from start to finish, look at “Babylon 5.” That was created to be a 5 year story, with a beginning, a middle, and an end.

  3. I thought BSG was doing well? I guess not.

I’ve never seen a Babylon 5 episode. Is the series good? I haven’t heard much good about it.

  4. I think BSG took a ratings hit last season…and it was probably deemed “too expensive.” I say, “What price good television!”

As for Babylon 5…I like it a lot. The first season can be a bear to get through, so most people probably didn’t bother. But, as the show went on, everything started to tie together. Besides, it had a post-WWII feel to it, so the history geek in me was hooked.

  5. Well, I may have to try it. The history geek in me is intrigued!
